How do you estimate the value of an appliance or a vehicle as scrap?
Short answer: Estimate the weight from the make and model, assume that most of it is steel at the steel price, add a small allowance for copper in motors and wiring, aluminium in castings and wheels and the catalytic converter in a vehicle, then reduce the total for collection and processing, which will not be exact but is close enough to judge whether a quote is reasonable.
